We're feeling a bit lightheaded...

…or maybe that’s just the helium!

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition that has been carried out in New York City since 1924. It is the second-oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the country and has been televised nationally on NBC since 1952. For countless Americans, the Thanksgiving Day Parade is a central part of the holiday — as important many as turkey, stuffing, gravy, and football.

Needless to say, the huge parade and its smaller counterparts around the country don’t always go as planned. With obstacles like lampposts, tree branches, and strong winds, the balloons can be extremely difficult to navigate… and sometimes they lead to some serious mishaps!

Get in the holiday spirit by checking out the worst Turkey Day parade mishaps in the event’s history.
