They believe he is the reincarnation of a god named Hanuman.
Humans have been being born with oddities and deformities since the beginning of time; it’s simple genetics. Every now and then though, a case will come by that gets an otherworldy reaction. That’s what’s happening now in a village in India, as an eight-year-old schoolboy has risen from the ranks of youngster to god, all because of an oddity that his body is growing.
What’s the oddity? A long, hairy “tail” on his back.
Like Any Other Boy
Dulha Singh, 8, is just like any other boy. He goes to school, plays with his friends, loves his parents, and… Oh, yea, he’s also worshipped as a god. Because of a strange growth that he inexplicably has coming out of his back (that happens to look like a tail), the people of his village feel he is the reincarnation of a god. He’s treated as such too.
Genetics of a God
There’s nothing genetically strange about Dulha, except for the patch of hair that started growing on his lower back from a young age. His parents were apprehensive about cutting the hair off, since they thought it might be a bad omen to do so.
His late mother made the decision to cut the hair off, but passed away before doing so. If she had, this boy never would have risen through the ranks. Even though at one point his schoolmates made fun of him, he said, “They are not my friends and do not tease me anymore.”
The villages believe Dulha to be a god because he and his tail bear a striking resemblance to one of their gods, Hanuman, who is a monkey god (hence the tail).
It doesn’t hurt that Dulha also has a knack for climbing trees and does so whenever he can, which further relates him to the monkey god.
