They knew they were meant to be together
So many newlywed couples will say that they feel as though they were meant for each other, but there’s only one couple on record who may actually be right about it. College sweethearts Heidi and Ed Savitt dated for years before they realized that their meeting in college was not their first. They were “inseparable” as children even though they had no recollection of ever knowing one another when they met years later!
Feeling Like Soulmates
Heidi and Ed Savitt are a happily married couple now, and they fully believe that they were destined to be together. Heidi met Ed when they were attending Newcastle University in 2011. Ed was a Psychology and Business major, and Heidi was an Economics and Management student.
Ed messaged Heidi, whose name he found on a random post, asking her how to use the clothes dryer in the dorm building he just moved into that she had previously lived in. An interest was sparked, and they began dating.
After four years of being in love, the young couple arranged a dinner with their mothers. It was then that they learned something about their pasts that made them realize that they really were meant for each other.
Heidi’s mom Kay Parker and Ed’s mother Fiona Savitt reminisced about their summers going to the beach when their children were young. Kay mentioned that Heidi had a “holiday boyfriend” in Gumbet, Turkey for two weeks during the summer when she was six years old. As it turned out, the boy happened to be named Ed. The children held hands and played together for the entire vacation.
Everyone was shocked by the coincidence that Heidi wound up with a man who had the same name as her childhood friend. Fiona even accidentally broke her wine glass over the coincidence, but they didn’t put much more thought into it for the rest of the evening.
Kay wanted to find out who this little “holiday boyfriend” was, and she went looking around for pictures from that vacation in her attic. Two weeks later, she uncovered a few photos of her daughter from July of 1997 with a little blonde boy of the same age. Kay believed that the boy her daughter was infatuated with as a child was the man that she was set to marry.
Meant to Be
“I was screaming, it was just unreal. Of course, I sent it to Fiona. Then loads more photographs came out,” Kay told Mail Online about the exciting moment. “None of us had any idea whatsoever that Heidi and Ed had met before university. But during that two-week holiday, they held hands most of the time.”
Fiona was amazed that she had met the Parkers years before and didn’t realize that she was meeting them again when their children found each other as adults. “When Kay sent me the photo of a little boy called Ed I shrieked, ‘Oh my goodness, that’s Ed!’ We sent it around to all our family and friends and everyone was amazed. She said, “It was not just Heidi and Ed who met on that holiday but all of us as well.”
Kay believed that the pair had a “subconscious realization” that they knew each other when they were younger. However, Heidi was floored by the news. “I didn’t believe in fate before finding that out but there’s no arguing with it – we’re clearly destined to be together! It’s crazy to think we could have got married, shared our lives together, but then never found out about this,” she exclaimed.
Heidi and Ed were wed in August 2017 at the twelfth-century manor Haddon Hall.
