Looks like he got fried!
One pleasant afternoon turned into a near-death scenario for one Missouri man and his father after being caught in a freak lightning storm while out fishing. Christian Neal and his father Gabe were both struck by lightning and flung out of their fishing boat. Christian recalls that it felt like “someone hit him with a bat” as his body instantaneously went ablaze. Miraculously, they were saved by a medically trained, Iraqi-war vet who happened to be fishing nearby.
Both of the men were severely burned, particularly young Christian. Now that they’re safe, Christian is sharing his photographs documenting his recovery…
In the blink of an eye, Christian went from casting his lure to being paralyzed in the hot water as lightning pulverized his rod and sent him flying off the boat. Notice how the heat of the lightning shredded the fibers of this heavy duty fishing rod.
This should make for a pretty neat souvenir, though!
The Wrath of Zeus
Christian and his father don’t remember much of the moment beyond the intense flash of pain, but they’re both lucky to have made it out alive with the help of their friend Andy, the nearby Iraqi veteran who came to their rescue.
