All good things must come to an end.
This is especially true for works of fiction like movies and TV shows that we fall in love with and wish would never stop being produced, but what can you do? And while all bad TV shows must come to an end, too (often quietly), there’s something especially painful about knowing that a world and full cast of characters you admire and identity with are permanently signing off, perhaps destined for ill-fated spinoffs…
Yet after lengthy and successful runs, one of the greatest tasks showrunners and screenwriters face is how to gracefully end an acclaimed series. Even when we all know it’s coming, the final episode of a popular show can be extremely divisive for fans.
