I wonder if he answered her prayers
When you’re a great-granny, it can be hard to keep up with all the crazy things that the kids are doing these days. The ever changing cultural landscape proved a little too much for one Brazilian grandmother. This devout woman got quite a surprise when her family came to visit!
Gabriela Brandão took her daughter to visit an aging family member just after Christmas and discovered something amazing. While looking at her daughter’s great-grandmother’s religious accouterments, the Florianópolis-based makeup artist noticed something very unusual.
To the internet!
Translation: “My daughter’s great-grandmother prays to this Saint Anthony every day”
Brandão saw this small figurine and, noticing that it seemed out of place, asked what it was for. The older woman explained that it was her figurine of Saint Anthony—the patron saint of Brazil (also, the elderly… Just saying). Gabriela still had some questions, though, so she turned to the internet.
Translation: “Looking closer:”
Now, how she did this, I have no idea, because Brandão implied that she didn’t know what the figurine really was until she found it online. But, through some really impressive internet sleuthing she found another, identical figurine online.
Spoiler: It was not Saint Anthony.
