"Her boyfriend showed up"
You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. At least that’s what people tell us to make us feel better about the miserable and awkward dates many of us have to go on before finding ~the one~.
What was your worst date like? I remember mine like it was yesterday: I sat there in silence as some pharma bro (not Martin Shkreli) went on about how they should raise the price of the polio vaccine in South Asia, because “if they can afford to buy Happy Meals, they can pay more for vaccines.” But I digress…
Bad dates stick with you like glue in the hair. Just take it from these Redditors, who gladly—albeit with a hint PTSD—shared the dates that were so bad, they actually walked out of them right in the middle.
He said ‘I normally dont really date girls that I dont find attractive so feel special.’
Well, goodbye. (ohkimma)
Mine didn’t even turn into a date. I bowled on a team once a week and chatted with a guy that came in the same nights with his family. We finally made a date, and as soon as I got in his car he asked me to marry him! He pulled a ring out of the glove compartment and said he was in the navy and was scheduled to be relocated to Germany in two weeks. I was shocked and scared, told him he was nice and I would write to him but it was just weird, I never heard from him again. (Xxfoxontherun)
“Hey mom, guess what, I GOT MARRIED”.
“What? Haha, you don’t even have a boyfriend. What’s his name?”
“John…. Or Jeff. I’m not sure, something with J. Anyways, we won’t see each other for a few months because he’s overseas.” (Fleder_m_aus)
Meet the Friends
I walked out even before the date started because my date brought his friend with him. They arrived in a car and asked me to jump in. (Minskin)
I once went on a first date to a casual restaurant … which turned out to be a bar serving lots of different international beers, and one type of hotdog. The place is small and has big glass windows so the people sitting inside and outside can see each other easily. Me and my date are sitting outside, chatting for about an hour…
He then reveals that the table of 4 people sitting precisely on the other side of the glass from us are all his friends. They’ve been watching our date. For an hour. Do I want to go in and meet them? (TurtleBucketList)
