Foot... Meet mouth!
Public speaking isn’t a strong suit for many people, yet and still, wedding speeches need to be made. Giving a family member or friend the space to say some kind words about you and your new spouse is often sweet. They fill the room with happy memories and well-wishes for the future.
However… The traditional wedding toast can also open the door for some awkward (or just plain awful) things to slip out of a person’s mouth. These Reddit users shared the absolute worst things they’ve heard during a wedding speech. It gets bad, but keep reading.
Best man speech: “Back in high school when Bill first told me he liked Jackie I said Jackie!? Ewww! But that’s how I knew Bill really liked her for who she was as a person .” ….Jackie was not very attractive (rooostur)
Best man spent the entire speech talking about how he and the groom were soul mates, culminating in comparing them to “two hydrogen atoms in a hydrogen bond.” Did not mention the bride at all. (LikeAgaveF)
Hey, Paw Paw
I was at a wedding where the grooms grandfather gave a speech. He stepped up to the mic and said, “(Groom), I hope you made the right choice.” Then just walked off. Old people waste no time speaking their feelings. Everyone cracked up. The Bride was cool about it. (Lemonlyric)
