And how to avoid them in 2018!
The Trump Make America Great Again Committee asked their supporters to seek out and nominate the top fake news stories of 2017. An email sent to the supporters read, “At President Trump’s request, we are holding a contest to name the 2017 KING of Fake News. And we want to hear from you!”
The POTUS may want all of the fake news rounded up so that he can further justify the term that he made so popular, but we’ve already done all the work for him.
A Shark in the Street
Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, TX and the surrounding areas. The city just wanted prepared for the several inches of rain water that rained down and many areas were severely flooded.
Then a photo started circulating showing a large shark swimming in the flood on a highway that seemed to be taken by someone driving a truck. However terrifying, the photo was fake.
It was posted by Dublin-based blogger Jason Michael who had no remorse about his actions that scared so many. He wrote to one concerned Twitter user, “So twitter is part of the emergency response now? Hold on while I go and bang my head against a wall.”
An internet troll named Joe Vargas posted up a video clip that appeared to show a fake Melania Trump. He posted the CNN live clip writing, “This is not Melania. To think they would go this far & try & make us think its her on TV is mind blowing. Makes me wonder what else is a lie.”
After the rumor spread like wildfire that Melania had a body double, side-by-side photos of the First Lady from the event were posted proving that it was her the whole time.
Joe was pleased that his social media pages went viral because he was able to advertise his cannabis-based “medications.”
Roy Moore’s Non-Transgressions
Several women came forward in recent months to detail how Roy Moore pursued them for romantic purposes when they were teens, and he was in his thirties. Plenty of opposition sprung up saying that all of their allegations were fraudulent and only occurred because people were trying to besmirch his name as he ran for Alabama senator.
Still, evidence proved that he was, in fact, lecherous towards those women. The people of Alabama decided that they didn’t want him as their senator. Still, many believed that he was innocent thanks to the spreading of the fake stories in his support.
