Styrofoam packaging will soon be a thing of the past!
The most common way of packaging items before sending them off in the mail is currently with styrofoam, but that could all be changing very soon.
Thanks to an eco-conscious company’s innovative, new idea, solid waste brought about by styrofoam packaging could soon be reduced by nearly 30%, meaning the world we’re living in could be a much cleaner and happier place to live.
We should have always done things this way…
The cons of styrofoam packaging
Eden Bayer (the co-founder of Ecovative) seems to have had enough with the current ways of sending packages. “A lot of these materials last for thousands of years in our environment, like plastic packaging, but they’re only used for days or weeks.” In an effort to lower the ever-growing pollution rate in our environment, he strived to find a better way to send packages. “Right now they basically send people boxes of trash,” he says.
The new and helpful alternative
Bayer and company’s goal was to find a product that could protect our deliveries just as well as styrofoam but wouldn’t be harmful for the environment once it’s disposed. As a solution, he’s come up with a mushroom-based alternative that isn’t bad for our big, beautiful Earth– in fact, it actually helps it!
