For those of us who still remember 1996’s Independence Day like it was yesterday, the countdown till the premiere of the epic alien film’s sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence, may seem like an eternity.

Thankfully, one filmmaker is helping us pass the time much more quickly.

Dane Boedigheimer, better known as Dane Boe, the creator of The Annoying Orange, just remade the Independence Day: Resurgence trailer, and this time, it’s not just the aliens coming back with a vengeance: it’s all the ’90s memorabilia that’s faded away along with them.

Talk about a throwback…

First thing’s first: here’s the official trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence that’s been out for a little while now. Look closely enough and you’ll see it features plenty of familiar faces.

Get chills yet? Just seeing Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman back in action is enough to make your patriotism swell up, not to mention sound clips from President Whitman’s famous Independence Day speech from the first film.

Dane Boe, known for his work with JibJab, Pimp My Ride, and especially The Annoying Orange, just remade the trailer but perfectly infused with copious amounts of ’90s references.

Complete with Teletubbies, Trolls riding N64 controllers, Pogs from space, and a very menacing Furby, this extremely well-done faux trailer is just chock-full of ’90s goodness. How many references can you spot?
