Brittany Peck had the best day of her life last weekend. She was married in a beautiful ceremony in Lorain County, Ohio. But what makes her wedding extra special is the gesture her father, Todd Bachman, made.
As Bachman was walking his daughter down the aisle, he grabbed Brittany’s step-father, Todd Cendrosky, to join in on giving their daughter away. “[Brittany’s biological father] came and grabbed my hand, and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'” Cendrosky said. “I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life.”
The photographs by wedding photgrapher Delia Blackburn have gone viral. Especially the one above where you can see how much the gesture meant to Cendrosky who was surprised by Bachman.
It’s no surprise if parents don’t get along after a divorce. You hear horror stories of mothers or fathers who refuse to attend weddings if so-and-so is going to be there. “It hasn’t always been peaches and cream…by any stretch of the imagination,” Bachman said. A mark of a wonderful parent it to be able to put those differences aside for the sake of the children and to put them first. Hopefully what Bachman did will inspire other blended families to come together for one special day.
