Scarlette Tipton was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of 10 months. As a result, her left arm was abnormally large — approximately three times the size of her right arm — and she needed to have her arm, shoulder, clavicle and scapula amputated so that the doctors could save her life. “Doctors are saying that her case is so rare that books will be written about her,” says a YouCaring fundraiser to help cover Scarlette’s massive medical bills.

Over the course of her very first year in the world Scarlette spent most of her life in hospitals, having received 19 surgeries, blood transfusions and numerous invasive tests. So for Christmas this year, Scarlette’s parents decided she deserved something very special. “We wanted a little kitten to have [Scarlette] grow up with, so she has something that’s just like her,” her mom, Simone Tipton told Love Meow.
