Out of Barkness, Comes Light!
Sometimes, it takes a tragedy to bring together two souls who may never have met otherwise. This is true of humans — think of all the tragic love stories you’ve ever heard — but it’s not just us. In this inspiring story, we meet Olaf, a 1-year-old bull mastiff, and a little puppy named Mariah, who made a special connection when they were both down-and-out on Christmas eve.

The Bite Of The Snake
This is Olaf. He’s a 1-year-old bull mastiff who was surrendered to a NYC shelter just a few days before Christmas. While he was in the care of his neglectful former parents, he was bitten by a venomous snake, and the wound became infected.
After an emergency surgery at the shelter, Olaf was on the track to getting better real soon — but he was the new kid on the block, and he needed some TLC.
This adorable, 6-week-old puppy is named Mariah, and it may be hard to believe, but on Christmas Eve this cutie was found abandoned in a parking lot, filthy and with symptoms of hypothermia. She, too, was sent to the shelter to spend the holidays among other homeless doggies.
