Not everyone adapts well to change, but sometimes it’s inevitable – especially in Hollywood! Whether we like it or not, actors are often replaced by other actors for reasons that are sometimes necessary and sometimes not. Whatever the case may be, re-casting always leads viewers to ask questions…and fortunately for you, we’ve got the answers!
You won’t believe why these actors were replaced!
Marty McFly – Back to the Future
Marty McFly didn’t always start out the way we remember him! Eric Stoltz had initially landed the role in this sci-fi classic, but was replaced by Michael J. Fox after a month of filming. Why? Because director Robert Zemeckis simply wasn’t a fan of Stoltz’ performance. Ouch!
Alison Scott – Knocked Up
When it comes to the craft of acting, Anne Hathaway and Katherine Heigl couldn’t be more different. That’s why we were shocked to find that Hathaway was originally set to star as Heigl’s character in the 2007 Judd Apatow comedy, Knocked Up. The big switch was made after Hathaway shared her discomfort with the film’s graphic childbirth scene, to which Apatow responded with “BYE, FELICIA!” It probably sucked at the time, but she went on to win an Oscar and stuff, so we assume she eventually got over it.
