These texts are shocking.
It can be hard to watch a co-worker get a promotion that you thought was coming your way. Even though it’s incredibly frustrating, most people have enough willpower to keep it to themselves and to try to cope in mature ways.
That was not the case in this instance. When this guy watched his female coworker get a promotion he thought was his, he told her exactly how he felt — and his sexism really isn’t subtle.
“I’m not sexist but…”
Ever heard someone start a conversation with “I’m not sexist, but…”? It’s a pretty clear sign that things are about to get really sexist. That’s what happened to professional woman Azita, who has been sharing text conversations between her and one of her male co-workers.
Why did he believe the position should have been his? Because, according to him, it’s “more suited to a man.”
Crazy Sexist Texts
This guy told her how he felt straight out. He starts with, “No offense but you really don’t deserve that promotion.” He goes on to say, “I work my ass off and I bring her coffee every day….you’re too emotional in your decision making.”
After stating that he’s not sexist (as if that prevents him from being totally sexist), he said, “Men are better with numbers, we make better accountants.”
A Woman’s Place
Where does he think a woman should be? Well, according to him, she’d “be a lot more successful as a secretary.” Apparently, he has a lot of opinions of where a “woman’s place” is in the office.
Of course, he tried his best to cover himself… as if there was anything that could make this less offensive. He said, “Don’t get offended I’m just being honest” and added, “Hope you don’t take it the wrong way.”
