Have we been stuck here forever?
If you felt 2017 was the longest year of your life, you’re not alone. As we enter 2018, we took a look back to highlight a few moments that might as well have happened in some sort of alternate reality. Some things that happened only a few months ago seem to feel like ancient history at this point.
Sure, there were some low-points (looking at you, cash-me-ousside girl), but the optimists out there know that the year wasn’t a total bust. Some great things happened and there were some truly amazing moments, but you have to admit that they were heavily weighed down by some really exhausting stuff.
Take a walk down recent memory lane as we look back on the eternity that was 2017…
The Presidential Inauguration
How many people were there again? The president tried to tell everyone that it was a record breaking crowd in attendance of his Inauguration. Photo evidence suggested otherwise, yet it still felt like Americans were being gaslighted.
Considering this happened in January, it felt like we didn’t really start the year off on a great note.
The Oscar “Oops”
Remember when Steve Harvey accidentally crowned the wrong Miss America back in 2015? The best picture mix up at the 2017 Oscars made that look like a casual mishap.
Giving Moonlight’s Oscar to La La Land out of sheer incompetence by Warren Beatty (who admittedly had a “senior moment”) was one of the most cringeworthy moments of February.
Salt Bae Memes
For a hot second, the delightfully strange way one man salted his meat seemed like the biggest meme of all time. Then by March it was practically non existent. Chewed up and spit out like a improperly seasoned lamb shank.
Salt Bae came out ok in the end though, he spent most of the year cooking for everybody from Leo DiCaprio to P. Diddy.
