Shhh... don't tell
When you start a job, you may have to sign an agreement that threatens legal action if you divulge any of the business secrets that you’re about to learn. With the help of the internet, workers are able to anonymously reveal those big secrets that the companies you shop at really don’t want you to know. From fees that don’t go to anything except the boss’s wallet to macerated food to marked-up sales, you may lose a little bit of your faith in humanity after reading these little-known trade secrets.

Green washing. I used to work for a company that one day decided too add a $5 “Environment fee” to each monthly invoice. It becomes quite a substantial amount when you have 7000+ customers. They later stealth-raised this fee to $9 during Christmas. (sjogga90)

Secondary infection is one of the largest causes of death at a hospital. Like more than half. This is when you go to the hospital and pick up pneumonia or a staph infection or the like at the hospital.
People who are already sick or injured have weakened immune systems, and sometimes the staff isn’t as thorough as they should be in cleaning up between patients. (Chlorr_of_the_Mask)
A small team of skilled workers can do work many times faster and cheaper than a big team of volunteers who have never worked construction before. Volunteering to do manual labor slows the process way down. But without your Facebook posts about doing volunteer work, the charity wouldn’t have the name-recognition to continue to exist. My parents went to Guatemala with their church to help build houses for poor people. On one hand it’s better than nothing and they genuinely want to help. On the other hand the amount of money they spent on plane tickets could have probably funded construction of many more houses, but then they wouldn’t get to have all those great pictures to post on Facebook.
