Prankin' on a Budget!
A historical predecessor to April Fools’ Day was the Roman festival of Hilaria. The idea of having a day dedicated to practical jokes evolved over years throughout the western world and by the 19th century, the April Fool was a widespread “thing.”
The goal of April Fools’ Day is simple … make someone look like a fool. Sounds harsh and mean-spirited, but when we’re talking about our ‘know-it-all’ friends and family, they probably deserve it! Whether you’re an experienced prankster or looking for a few good ideas to fool your family and friends, we’ve found a bunch of our favorite practical practical jokes that won’t bust your wallet.
Paging Mr. Lyon
Leave a note for a family member, roommate, or coworker to call back a Mr. Lyon with a number for the local zoo.
Turns out April 1st is the worst day of the year to work at a zoo…
“I work directly down the hall from the receptionist at a zoo. You would not believe the number of people that fall for this, and she has to explain to them, all 200+ calls, that someone pranked them. I generally put my headphones in for April fools day…” (begmaypard)
A Slippery Switcheroo
“Replace hand sanitizer like Purell with lube. Watch them rub their hands together forever!” (Muadibz)
Don’t worry, the lube will wash off harmlessly… but their shame never will!
“Sorry about the damage!”
If your office overlooks a parking lot, put notes on a couple cars in your view that say “Sorry about the damage!”
You’ll have a great laugh watching people spending forever trying to find something wrong.
