He's made over £500,000 impersonating Cher!
Growing up, Philadelphia native Stephen Andrade was bullied and mocked for his feminine appearance. Now he’s the one laughing… all the way to the bank.
Stephen has made a name for himself as one of the best Cher impersonators on the planet. He creates all of his own costumes, has performed all over the globe, and at one point was even hired to work as a double for the Believe singer to throw off paparazzi. With all his makeup on he’s a spitting image of the diva icon, but by day he looks just like your average joe.
From his conservative upbringing to raking in £2,000 per appearance as a drag queen, Stephen’s journey is an inspirational trip indeed.
A 12-Year Commitment
Stephen Andrade, 40, has been impersonating Cher for the last 12 years. Prior to committing to his act, he was an account executive with a pretty boring life.
As a child, Stephen was tormented by bullies and often physically beaten for his feminine appearance. Stephen opened up to
The Sun, saying, “Kids at school used to beat me up in the corridors, saying I looked like a girl… I would have bruises all over my body but I hid them and never told anyone.”
Stephen himself wouldn’t recognize he was gay until age 16.
The son of religious missionaries, Stephen and his sister were never allowed to watch TV. It wasn’t until he dropped out of school that a promoter suggested he commit to a Cher impersonation act.
Before that… he had never even heard of the superstar.
