A Dangerous Man
Pablo Escobar was probably the greatest drug lord of all time. He smuggled drugs into the United States on a daily basis and made an incredible amount of money while doing it. The Colombian smuggler was widely known as “The King of Cocaine,” and you can pretty much guess why.
On a daily basis, he smuggled about 15 tons of cocaine into the United States. Obviously, with all the money, he was making he was able to live a pretty lavish lifestyle. His home in Puerto Triunfo even included a private zoo that was filled with giraffes, elephants, and more. He had multiple mansions in his time, and some of them are even available for people to stay in overnight.
Escobar made the Forbes’ list of international billionaires for a whopping seven straight years. From 1987 to 1993 he dominated, and in 1989 he was even listed as the seventh-richest man on the planet. All of this despite the fact that he had an estimated $2 billion profit lost every month.
By the end of the 1980s, it was estimated that Escobar actually supplied about 80% of the world’s cocaine. That’s a type of domination that you won’t see with anything today, and what he was dealing with was mostly illegal drugs.
