Stuck in a Storm
Have you been thinking about going on a cruise, but have yet to book a trip due to fear? That’s the issue in my case. I saw Titanic when I was 8 years old and promised myself I would never set foot on a ship. Yes, I know that’s ridiculous. It’s been a century since Titanic sunk and ships are built much differently. Not to mention, technology makes communication much simpler in case of an emergency.
That being said, being out in the middle of the open ocean still terrifies me. This video a cruise liner crew member posted to YouTube just confirmed my fears. Check out the scary video!
Anthem of the Seas
In February 2016, one Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Anthem of the Seas, was in route to Port Canaveral in Florida when it ran into bumpy seas. Ok, that’s an understatement. These waters were so rough that they produced 30 foot waves.
The cruise was over a year ago, but it’s making headlines due to new footage from the incident surfacing on YouTube.
Forced to Return
The ship was carrying over 4,500 guest and 1,600 crew members. One crew member, Stephen J Burke, caught the storm on video from his 3rd floor cabin. After posting it to YouTube, the video is receiving a lot of attention.
Due to the storms in the Atlantic, the cruise ship decided to go back to New Jersey due to winds that reached 120mph.
While the people in the video are very lighthearted about the ordeal, they still recognize the potential dangers.
One person looks out the window saying, “We’re just staying in one place, hoping not to die.” Another chimes in, “We’re underwater, under the third floor.”
They then video themselves trying to walk straight through the hallways.
