Look, but don't touch
Take a walk into the wild and you’ll notice all kinds of furry animals scurrying about. But beware: not all of them are the cuddly, fuzzy creatures that they seem to be. You never know what deadly secret that docile rabbit or Bambi-like deer is really carrying. These animals may seem approachable, but they’re better left alone if you don’t want to go home in a body bag.
Check out these Reddit users’ favorite examples of creatures that look cuddly, but are actually deadly — and a few of our own for good measure!
Not So Slow
The slow loris. The thing is adorable and even has slow in its name but has some nasty venom. (RacingBlue)
These cute mammals have been kept as pets despite it being extremely damaging to their species. They have sharp teeth that inject venom that’s been known to cause deadly anaphylactic shock.
Like a Tiny Bear
Wombats. They’re brutal if you try to put your hand in their caves. (Dadoaesop)
Not only have wombats been known to viciously maul people, they are the reason behind many fatal car crashes. Their weight, low center of gravity, and tough hides make them like small boulders in the roadway.
Let’s Go Jellyfishing
The irukandji jellyfish. So tiny! (keeperofcats)
Hailing from the waters of Australia, the irukandji jellyfish only grows to be about one centimeter wide, but sends more than 50 to the hospital a year. Their venom causes brain hemorrhages. It has 100 times the lethality of cobra venom.
