These things need to change
Adults being able to marry children. In many states, it’s possible for an adult to marry a child as long as they have the parent’s consent. Some states require a judicial review as well.
Most states the minimum age is 15 but in some states (looking at you Florida) you can marry a child of any age as long as you get them pregnant first. (rckymtnrfc)
Pretending autistic kids are a different species, basically. I read somewhere that almost everyone falls on the spectrum somewhere. I, myself, certainly do. Maybe if we didn’t treat the less functional folks like they need to be separate from everyone else, it wouldn’t be such a big shock to everyone.
Obviously, some people need a little more help than others, but there were special needs kids in my grade who I never once saw besides at the ends an beginnings of school days. Ostracizing them certainly won’t help them fit in and learn to live a normal life. (dannixxphantom)
Hand It Over
Something I’ve noticed since my baby was born. Some people would try and ask my baby to go to them and then they think it’s ok to grab the baby when the baby shows signs of not wanting to let go of me. This is infuriating but because it seems widely accepted and it’s usually SO’s family… I have to keep cool. (PM_FREE_BABY_CLOTHES)
I hate their reasoning. “Well he/she has to get used to it!” No, they don’t. When they get older and know you better they’ll WANT you to hold them. But for now stop taking my child from my arms so they can scream at you until you hand them back tut-tutting about how I’ve spoiled the baby. (Eapwob13)
