Family Buys Cadaver Bride for Dead Son, Turns out Cadaver Is Still Alive

This bride wasn't ready to enter the next life

There are two strange things going on in this particular story coming out of China, but it’s more common than you think. It was outlawed by Chairman Mao in 1949, but Chinese families are bringing back the ritual of seeking out dead women to be buried with unmarried men so that they won’t have to face the afterlife alone. Families are willing to pay grave robbers to dig up old corpses for the tradition, but the freshly dead are more valuable. So they’re turning to killing women to turn a profit. But this bride wasn’t even completely dead when she was placed in a coffin and nearly buried.
