Thank goodness she was there!
Former flight attendant Nancy Rivard, founder of Airline Ambassadors, is trying to instill that kind of thinking into flight attendants all over the world with her program. Attendants look out for upset or scared passengers who doesn’t appear to be a parent or relative, people who look bruised or drugged, or one passenger speaking on behalf of another. In just this past year, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 2,000 human traffickers and identified 400 victims.
Keeping the Look Out
During large events (like the Super Bowl) demand for sex workers increases exponentially and attendants were instructed to be on high alert.
Thank goodness Shelia was there when she was. It brings home the point that early education makes all of the difference, saying “I’ve been a flight attendant for 10 years and it’s like I am going all the way back to when I was in training, and I was like, I could have seen these young girls and young boys and didn’t even know.”
