Never underestimate the power of a large group of people believing something incorrect. Bad first guesses and easy-to-use shorthand have left us with plenty of names and classifications that don’t make sense upon closer inspection. In few places is this more prevalent than the food we eat, a world where even fruits and vegetables are given the Potter Stewart treatment: we know them when we see them.
But Reddit can’t just leave well enough alone. In their desire to know facts that make them Fun At Parties, these extremely online denizens started talking about how white chocolate isn’t chocolate (it contains no cocoa solids, just cocoa butter) and wanted to know what other foods rest on a throne of lies.
