Bizarre and ingenious!
Traveling is wonderful and enriching, but we all know how much of a hassle it can be!
Try as you might to find the best bargains on plane tickets, tour groups, cruises, and beautiful places to stay, you’re bound to have a snafu or two along the way. The last thing anyone wants is to finally get settled into your hotel only to have more problems there.
Luckily for us, travel experts (dream job much?) have done all the work for us, and they’ve reported back with hotel hacks many of us have never even thought about trying, but which are guaranteed to make your hotel stay cleaner, easier, and more stress-free! Traveling With Kids?
If you’re traveling with kids, there are a few modifications you can do to your room to make things easier for everyone!
First, go find the ironing board that is likely in the closet, and set it up at the foot of the bed. Throw a towel over it, and voilà! An instant, kid-friendly table for them to sit or eat at while still enjoying the TV and staying put on the bed.
If you’re traveling with an infant but want to keep the hotel room as sanitary as possible, use the desk as a changing station instead of a bed. This is a great way to keep the sheets clean and organize the baby’s items in a single place. Most hotels offer plastic bags for laundry, which you can use to throw out dirty diapers and keep the room as clean as possible!
Good Night’s Sleep
At the end of a the day, a hotel is a place to sleep while traveling, and we all know how important sleep is. Nothing is worse than coming back to your hotel and not being comfortable enough to get some shut eye. Here are two tips to help that!
Tuck a towel at the foot of your door to block out any unwanted light or sound! This is a simple solution, especially if your room is in a crowded area or near an elevator.
What’s worse than sleeping the whole night through, only to have the sunlight wake you up in the morning long before your alarm goes off? While most hotels have multiple layers of curtains and drapes to keep out unwanted light, there’s still bound to be a little slit coming through where the panels meet. Luckily, there’s an easy fix! Just take a hanger that has pant clips on it from the closet, and use the clamps to hold the panels of the curtain together! Enjoy your entire night’s sleep!
Now see what one travel pro has to say about hacking your hotel to the max! Some of the biggest takeaways are that rates can be negotiable, especially if you find a cheaper rate on a third-party site and then use it to get the best rate guarantee from the hotel itself!
Worried about staying fresh on a longer trip and don’t feel like dishing out the cash to do in-hotel laundry service? Look no further than your own bathroom! Just fill up the tub or jacuzzi with water and some soap, and throw your clothes in. When you hand wash your clothes, they’re less likely to get damaged by avoiding the machinery or other people doing the work. Tub drain doesn’t cover? Just lay down some plastic and weigh it down with coins to keep water in the tub while you wash!
