Lynlee Boemer is home and doing great!
The surgery took five hours and was “fairly dramatic,” according to the surgeons who spoke with CNN. During the procedure, Lynlee (who was barely over 1 lb. at the time) was completely removed from her mother for about 20 minutes, during which time they removed as much of the tumor as possible, returned her to the uterus, and resealed the womb, allowing Lynlee to finish developing normally.
After the surgery, Margaret carried Lynlee for another 12 weeks before giving birth to her by C-section in July of this year. Lynlee had a second surgery after her birth to remove the rest of the tumor, but is recovering nicely and is now home with her family!
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help support the family through Lynlee’s ongoing recovery.
