Please stop being so nice, it's very rude
What one person deems a nicety, another says is just plain annoying, rude, or aggravating. While you may be trying to show respect for your fellow human being by stopping for a pedestrian, trying to help a person carry something heavy, or offering them your advice, your actions can rub people the wrong way. That isn’t to say that you should stop being thoughtful… but there are some things that we can all agree are more of an inconvenience than a favor!
Into the Danger Zone
Driver stops his car and smiles, gestures for me to cross the street…. while there are dozens of other cars speeding by. (custydash)
Or when there is nobody else on the road and the time it takes for them to stop and you to wave at each other to keep moving takes longer than if they’d not bothered in the first place. There’s no scenario where it isn’t stupid. (kkkhfdhjjhgx)
The Helpful Passenger
When passengers say anything along the lines of, “Oh, you don’t have to turn the GPS on, I can guide you!” I understand they’re being nice, however, I can’t stand it because a majority of the time they don’t give me enough warning or guidance. I’m driving in the left lane when suddenly, “Oh, make a right, right here!” Are you serious. (streetsignite)
Replying all on a ‘Thanks’ email. There are 300 people on this, it takes 30 seconds to stop, open and discard per person. That’s 2.5 hours at your company average rate. If you want to thank someone, thank THEM. (stonemender)
