An undeserved end
Luis Manuel Medina was just a normal radio DJ in the Dominican Republic when he was met with a terrible fate. He was outspoken and may have said some things that people disagreed with, but doesn’t everybody?
On Valentine’s Day, he was going through his normal morning routine and talking to his viewers on Facebook Live when a terribly scary situation unfolded right in front of his viewers eyes.
Luis Manuel Medina was a radio journalist from the Dominican Republic. It’s fair to say he did what he loved to do: He was the presenter for the news program “Milenio Caliente,” which was known for its social commentary and political analysis. He was also the official announcer for the Dominican baseball team the “Estrellas Orientales,” so he had a lot on his plate until the unfortunate situation happened.
A Normal Broadcast
Medina was going through one of his normal broadcasts on Valentine’s Day when things took a turn for the worst.
As per his custom, he was broadcasting his show on Facebook Live when the incident happened. The radio station is located in a shopping mall in the Dominican town of San Pedro de Macoris. The intruder broke in and open fired on the people inside.
Sadly, Medina was shot and killed in the incident. Besides him, the shooting also took the life of the station’s producer Leo Martínez and seriously injured the secretary Dayaba Garcia, who is believed to be pregnant. A friend of both Medina and Martínez said:
“For gunmen to open fire in a media outlet like this is unprecedented. The authorities must investigate to determine not just the killers but also the intellectual authors so that we know why they were murdered.”
The live stream is the worst part…
