What do you want to be when you grow up?
The girl’s letter finished:
“I am 7 years old and my teachers tell my mum and dad I am very good in class and am good at my spelling and reading and my sums. My dad told me if I carry on being good and learning things one day I will be able to have a job at google.
“My sister Hollie is also very clever but she likes doll and dressing up, she is 5. My dad told me to give you a application to get a job in google. I don’t really know what one of them is but he said a letter will do for now Thank you for reading my letter, I have only ever sent one other and that was to Father Christmas. Good bye.”
Adorable AND impressive! But even more impressive, the CEO of Google took it upon himself to respond…
Google Writes Back
Out of the kindness of his heart—or in a very clever PR move—Google CEO Sundar Pichai responded to Chloe’s letter.
“Dear Chloe, Thank you so much for your letter. I’m glad that you like computers and robots, and hope that you will continue to learn about technology. I think if you keep working hard and following your dreams, you can accomplish everything you set your mind to — from working at Google to swimming in the Olympics. I look forward to receiving your job application when you are finished with school! 🙂 All the best to you and your family.”
AMAZING! I can’t even begin to imagine how exciting that must have been for Chloe to receive.
According to Chloe’s dad, she’s even more motivated now to do well and work hard for a bright future pursuing her dreams.
Chloe and her family have since created a personal Twitter account which she uses to document her activities and further pursuit of her goals. The Bridgewaters now keep fans up to date, reporting back good news from what’s happened since Chloe’s letter went viral. Recently, a company even mailed the seven-year-old a computer so that her family wouldn’t have to spend the money buying one. Aren’t people just great?
Aside from the cute fact, Chloe’s story is an important reminder that there is so much good in the world, even if the news and political climate make us forget that fact. We could all use more positive news in our life, and we’ve got just the cure for you. Keep reading!
