Now that's a good mom
After Whitney Kittrell became a single mother, she promised to be both a mother figure and a father figure to her kids. So when her son came home with an invitation to a father-son event, Whitney and the Internet saw just how seriously she takes that promise.
When it comes to her children and their happiness, this mother is a perfect example of how to take advantage of a tricky situation and make it better.
Whitney Kittrell is a single mother from St. George, Utah. She says that she became a single mom about three years ago; from that moment on she made a promise to do anything she could for her kids, “even if it meant going out of my comfort zone, to give my kids a ‘normal’ life and the same experiences as other kids,” said Whitney.
Her son, who is in kindergarten, brought home a father-son breakfast event flyer. Kittrell asked her son if he wanted to go with his grandfather, but he said no; he wanted her to take him because she was his mother and his father.
So, Whitney got up the morning of the event and put on her best “dad clothes,” which ended up being a T-shirt, a baseball cap, and some baggy sweatpants. She topped it off by painting on some fake facial hair.
She admitted to feeling a little embarrassed and not completely looking the part, but it was all worth it. Her son was having a great time, smiling and introducing her to all of his friends.
