One small step for man's best friend...
Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
If that’s so, many countries including the United States would not be too kindly judged. Yet despite our shocking treatment of livestock (not to mention animal abuse happening in private residences), the slaughter of smarter animals such as dogs, or animals we don’t always associate with “food” in the West (rabbits, horses) draws more attention.
This is an exciting first step in South Korea, although making the business more humane will certainly not stop it as a whole anytime soon.
What do you think about dog meat? Is it okay as long as the animals are being raised and killed legally and humanely? Or should the industry be shut down altogether? SHARE this article and let us know your thoughts.
