This guy is outie-control!
What would you do if you had to keep your most defining trait an absolute secret?
Whether we’re ashamed of our unexpected assets or simply wish to keep our personal lives separate from our public lives, our hidden features and talents can be either embarrassing or empowering, a burden or useful.
But for those of us who are enterprising enough to use this secret for our own personal gain, life can be sweet duplicity. That’s exactly the case for one man, who lives his days wearing a shirt and working like anyone else but spends his nights as “Swirly Dude,” showing off his stomach for thousands of viewers on YouTube.
This man may just have one of the biggest outie belly buttons in the world.
The Umbilical Monster
26-year-old Mark is your average businessman from California, but by night, he masquerades under the sobriquet Swirly Dude.
This moniker derives from Mark’s most unique asset: his large, outie belly button that appears to ‘swirl’ in shape. In an interview with UNILAD, Mark said:
“While my body is fairly average, one thing about my body that has always stood out (literally) is my belly button. I remember first noticing it was different when I was around 8 years old. My friends all had innies from what I saw at the pool or when they stretched and their shirt rode up. I’d see their normal looking belly buttons and then I’d look down at my belly button and I had this umbilical monster attached to me.”
Of Innies and Outies
Like so many medical oddities, Swirly Dude’s generous helping of belly button remains a mystery.
“I have no idea why it looks like this, and I don’t think doctors do either. People often think it’s an umbilical hernia, but the doctors just say it’s just a lot of extra umbilical flesh.
“So like, literally, my umbilical cord is still partially attached. Fortunately, the one inch of umbilical cord does tuck away nicely into my torso if I push it in. It creates a cinnamon roll shape, I call it my ‘swirly’. But even this shape was not the ‘normal’ looking belly button that my friends had so I was quite shy about the whole situation overall.”
But over the years, Mark has come to term with his unique belly button, and he’s even found niche communities that are willing to pay to see him play with it. Yes, you heard that right. While fetishes exist for just about anything, Mark realized that through his
Swirly Dude YouTube channel, he could actually make money just by posting anonymous videos of his belly button in various states of being tucked in or out and proud.
“I’ve embraced it as part of my life,” Mark said. “Something individualistic that makes me me. And plus, it’s super fun to induce shock, awe, horror, and amusement from people all across the globe.”
Turning a Profit
“Many of my YouTube viewers fantasize about experiencing my belly button live. They wish they could meet me to poke, bite, lick, or kiss it. Some folks have even expressed interest in being shrunken down and tucked into my belly button to live forever.
“The wildest request I’ve ever gotten was for a 30 minute private video of me playing with my belly button with a little bit of moaning. This fan offered me $100 for a 15 minute video. After declining, he continued to raise his offer until I worked his bid up to $500 for a 30 minute video. I was pretty proud of the notion that I’d just secured a $1,000/hour job.”
If you were in Mark’s situation, wouldn’t you do the same? $500 for 30 minutes certainly isn’t a bad deal! And that one viewer wasn’t alone, in the year that Swirly Dude has been releasing videos, the channel has garnered over 170,000 views and 870 subscribers. It certainly goes to show that there truly is something out there for everybody!
But Mark isn’t only in it for the money: “I really just enjoy using my belly button for good and making the world a more fun, quirky place with it.”
