To make matters worse for the board members who okayed the spending, the extra money that they spent on the stadium—about $12 million— “could have paid nearly half the cost of a new elementary school,” according to Covering Katy, as the most recent elementary school’s final price tag was about $30 million.
The new Superintendent of KISD, Lance Hindt, is now left to pick up the pieces of the previous administration and quell concerns from the community. He believes that the situation needs attention as soon as possible but says they may delay putting a new bond request on the ballot until November 2018.
