Women have to put up with so much nonsense
Ladies of the world, you know it’s no big deal to have a period. It’s completely natural, and it’s easily managed these days. Sorry women of the past! You had to put up with a lot. And some of those crazy notions about this regular monthly bodily function still exists in parts of the world today. Women have actually died because of the misinformation about periods. It’s time that we set those ridiculous taboos right!
What you are going to see is that many ancient (and some modern) societies feel that menstruation bloody is unclean, or that the women experiencing her menses is unclean herself. This would sometimes get to the point where a woman is basically outcast for that week, and she’s not allowed to touch anyone, food, or any clothing that’s not hers.
While modern Christians have no issues with menstruation, in Mark 5:25-24 in the Bible, Jesus broke the mold of old Jewish laws by allowing a “hemorrhaging” woman to touch him, and she was cured.
While the concept is somewhat outdated, Jewish women of old, and some modern practitioners, believe that menstruating women (niddah) are unclean. She is not to be touched, and you certainly can’t have sex with her. After their periods, Jewish women used to have a thorough ritual cleaning called a mikveh.
