Better safe than sorry... but would we even be safe?
We’re a nation obsessed with zombies. From Night of the Living Dead to The Walking Dead, zombie based entertainment is everywhere theses days. We’ve all thought about what we’d do if there was a zombie apocalypse, but not many people take it seriously.
You don’t really here much news about zombie apocalypse plans because of the fact that it’s never going to happen… But if it did, The Pentagon would be prepared with a full fledged plan just for this specific crazy event.
Better safe than sorry
Believe it or not, there is actually a plan that The Pentagon has in case a zombie apocalypse-type event does take place. Not only does the plan exist, but the document itself is pretty in-depth. What would the protocol be? Who would be involved? Who would be protected? Thanks to The Pentagon and whoever’s idea it was to whip up the plans, all those questions can be answered.
The plan mainly goes over things like training civilians how to survive in this post-apocalyptic world, and how the military would be used. It’s seen as more of a training tool, where it breaks down the basics of what needs to be done to survive. One of the head-scratchers is the fact that the documents only have a play for “30 days of barricaded counter-zombie operations”. So what happens after the 30 days? Do we just accept our fate as zombie food?
The document is actually publicly available, and you can see it for yourself here. It’s titled “CONPLAN 8888”, also known as “Counter-Zombie Dominance”, and the author even notes in the disclaimer section that “this plan was not actually designed as a joke”, so you can bet The Pentagon is prepared.
