What’s your hidden talent?
In the normal sense, when we think of talent, our minds might go to the ways people excel at singing, sports, writing, dancing, martial arts, or other specific skills our society generally respects.
But talent can come in many shapes and sizes. Maybe you can text perfectly without looking at your phone, or maybe you can eat an entire box of Oreos in one sitting.
Stranger yet are the talents we only tell our closest friends—if anyone—about. These typically include weird body skills or things we only could have learned about ourselves through very suspect circumstances. We’ve all been there.
Needless to say, not all talents are prized. In fact, it can be downright suspicious if you’re a little too good at some things in life. People were asked to think about everyday skills that become immediately suspicious if people are weirdly good at them, and the list is pretty hilarious.
The Name Game
Remembering names. “Oh hi Beth, remember me? We sat on a bench together for like 5 minutes about a year ago.” gets maced(brickmack)
I once had a neighbor catch me while I was taking groceries out of my car and ask if I knew how to open locked doors as they locked themselves out by mistake. Went over to their door, took out a credit card, and shimmied my way in in no more than 5 seconds.
Probably was bittersweet for them. (B_U_F_U)
My boss locked herself out of the shop last week and I did this. We’re getting new locks and a security system now. (moldycro)
Never Forgets a Face
Recognizing faces. I was approaching the check in counter of a hotel I didn’t remember being in before when the desk clerk welcomed me by name.
I was visibly startled. His coworker explained “He’s got a freakish memory.”
I checked later I had been there 3 years before. (BigGrayBeast)
I can’t even remember someone’s name three seconds after meeting them…
