Two shots just barely missed her head in this shocking footage
It’s no secret that gun violence is out of control in the U.S., but people have seemingly become complacent about the staggering amount of citizens harmed or killed by guns each and every day. There are just as many calls to loosen gun laws as there are calls to get guns off the streets and out of the hands of people who use them to commit violent acts.
A new video has surfaced, showing the reality of gun violence; a young, innocent girl is very nearly killed by two bullets shot through a store window in broad daylight. The footage shows her barely escaping death, yet she’s just one in hundreds of kids each year who encounter gun violence.
America and Guns
America just loves firearms. You can’t go one day without hearing someone talk about how great it is that our forefathers put citizens’ right to bear arms in our Constitution.
The problem with the proliferation of deadly weapons is that people are killed by them at a rate that outpaces any other place on Earth because gun-toting citizens are too quick to use them on each other.
Guns are also heavily used on or by innocent children who aren’t supposed to have access to them.
The Wild West
The Associated Press and USA Today did a study about children who die by accidental gun violence by their own hands, by other children, and by adults. The study found that a child in America was killed by bullets unintentionally every other day in 2016.
Gun violence is far higher in America than in most of the world. So far in 2017, there have been 4,329 deaths attributed to guns in America.
Nowhere to Run
Children aren’t just getting caught in the crosshairs of guns while on the street; they’re being killed in their own homes as bullets rips through walls.
A six-year-old boy in Texas was killed by a bullet that tore through his bedroom wall when his neighbors in the next apartment got into an argument. In a different incident, a 13-year-old boy in Raleigh was asleep in a hotel bed when a man fresh out of jail for violating a protective order accidentally shot and killed him through the wall.
These stories don’t end.
