Fun, then fatal
Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is one of the most popular places for tourists who go on a Caribbean vacation. You can often find all-inclusive deals that include flight, resort, all-you-can-eat food, and endless booze for next to nothing, all year round. Punta Cana makes for an affordable, yet luxurious family vacation. I go on these all-inclusive beach getaways at least once a year. While frat bros use them for degenerate spring break partying, I enjoy the quiet serenity of an adults-only resort, where I can turn my brain off.
Usually the worst thing that happens to the tourists at these resorts is sunburn, puking up some of the free daiquiris, or the dreaded Montezuma’s Revenge.
But for one beautiful, fun loving woman, her Punta Cana story is a tragedy. And it’s also shrouded in mystery. Did she realize it was dangerous? Was she impaired? Why didn’t her friend stop her?
