"Always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!"
It looks like Trump is taking some time out from his “busy schedule” of “running the country” to get back to his one, true passion: Ripping into his haters on Twitter. Well, actually, it’s his daughter’s haters this time around.
News broke that the luxury retailer Nordstrom would be dropping Ivanka’s fashion line from their website and stores, and the Donald is unhappy about it to say the least. Are you ready for the “presidential” Donald we were promised in the general election? Same. Based on this situation, though, I don’t think we’ll be seeing him any time soon.
It’s all about the image
It should come as no surprise that Donald Trump still cares very deeply about his brand outside of the White House.
Although he’s not technically running his businesses from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, his name is still attached to his business dealings (as are his children). His sons, Eric and Donald Jr., have been put in charge of the family business for the time being, while Ivanka is holding down the fort at her own fashion line and her husband has been appointed a senior adviser to her father (whatever that means).
Unfortunately for Ivanka, it’s impossible to distance herself from her father’s reputation at the moment, which has likely been a cause behind the plummeting sales for Ivanka’s line. Her products have been dropped by a number of retailers over the past few months—mostly thanks to the #grabyourwallets boycott initiative. With the final blow, Nordstrom just dropped Ivanka Trump brand products from both their website and their stores— and Donald is having none of it.
That’s nice, Donald
Trump has chosen to go after those who would “wrong” his daughter’s business as if it was his own (and as if he wasn’t the President of the United States). Earlier today, Donald Trump tweeted at Nordstrom calling their decision to drop Ivanka “unfair” due to the fact that his daughter “is a great person.”
