Let the games begin!
“Candy or Not Candy?”
How do I sign up for this game?
Like something out of Hansel and Gretel, this tasty and tantalizing show takes celebrity contestants and asks them to figure out one seemingly simple question: candy or not candy?
The celebs are placed in various rooms and handed a wide variety of objects, from furniture to clothes, and they are asked to bite into it in order to determine if the object is edible or not. Is that a dirty shoe or chocolate? Is that a coffee table made of glass or is it just candy? Their face immediately after biting in is all you need to know to get your answer!
Those you might think this show would get old after a while, the different celebrities probably keep it exciting, but the true mastery of this show is the exquisite detail that goes into creating each scenario: rooms filled with extremely lifelike objects, some of which have been replaced with candy. These rooms and items rotate from show to show, and it’s truly impressive what hard work and detail go into creating the items that celebrities will soon be forced to taste.
If you grew up watching Nickelodeon, picture something like Legends of the Hidden Temple, only it’s even scarier than when the Temple Guards popped out from behind hidden doorways.
TORE! is a thrilling, Indiana Jones meets The Mummy-esque style show where contestants are being embalmed and mummified in real time while trying to answer a series of puzzles. If they don’t answer on time… their fate is sealed right before our eyes!
I think one of the most surprising things is how physical Japanese game shows get. Many of them put contestants in situations that seem like they could quite possibly be dangerous for the people forced into them. Would this ever fly in America?
Perhaps one of the most entertaining and least suggestive games on this list, Slippery Stairs is exactly what it sounds like: Contestants are placed in latex suits and challenged to climb a staircase that has been covered in some slipper substance, making it nearly impossible to get to the top.
The added bonus is that when one contestant inevitably slips and falls down, it initiates a sort of human dominoes as everyone behind them is sure to get knocked out and go tumbling down. We’d imagine that this game gets old after a while, but it’s oh-so-addictive to watch at first! I wish I could try! How do we get one of these set up at a birthday party…
