“God told her he was going to remove that bad spirit from her and asked us to start a fire because that’s where the spirit was going to be expelled. We were praying when we looked at her and saw she was on fire,” Rocha told The Sun.
Rafael Arista, the head of the Church of the Assembly of God, denied Rocha being apart of his congregation, and he denied his group taking part in such a crime.
Trujillo’s husband, Reynaldo Peralta, was away when his wife was burned to death. ” My wife was not possessed,” he said in an interview. He also accused the suspects of practicing witchcraft.
First Lady Speaks
Rosario Murillo, Nicaragua’s first lady and vice president, is disgusted by the crime. She described it as “deplorable and to be condemned” and promises the suspects will be prosecuted for murder. “Something like this cannot happen again,” she said.
