You Can Now Smell Like Putin, for a Price

I Just Love a Man Who Smells Like Putin.

Vladimir Putin is a lot of things, but first and foremost among them, he is a man’s man.

From his accomplishments in the martial arts, to his varied hobbies such as race car driving and surfing, not to mention running the world’s biggest country, 63-year-old Putin has been a caricature on the world stage since his political career began in the 1990s.

Now, joining the ever-growing ranks around the leader’s cult of personality, a Russian perfumer has created Leaders Number One, a Putin-inspired perfume.

Perfumer Vladislav Rekunov might be taking a huge risk by marketing a perfume inspired by the Russian president, especially based on what some potential buyers are already saying about it.

Boasting fragrances of lemon, black currant, and fir cones, Rekunov describes his creation as “uniting. So it’s not an aggressive scent, rather it’s attractive.”

Unfortunately, some Russians who tried it on at a Moscow mall said it reminded them of cheap perfume.

Another item on the growing list of Putin-inspired products, no doubt riding the wave of the Russian president’s increase fame (or infamy), 3.3 ounces of the perfume will cost you about $95. And while the hefty scent of fir cone does sound stylish in Siberia, you might considering opting towards a more tradition perfume or cologne.
