Sir John Gielgud, 1982 – Actor in a Supporting Role (Arthur)

A legendary British actor, Gielgud was arrested in 1953 for cruising in a public lavatory; any homosexual acts were illegal in England through the 1960s. The story went public and Gielgud was concerned his career was over, only to find that the public supported him just as strongly as ever.
