But Sarandon didn’t take the insult sitting down.

In response to Morgan’s callout Sarandon hit back by sharing a picture of herself in lacy white bra from the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, captioning the photo, “Today’s #TBT (throwback Thursday) is dedicated to @piersmorgan.” Sarandon refused to be shamed by her wardrobe selection.
Realizing that the feud was gaining traction, the former tabloid editor raised the stakes by shooting back yet again with a picture of himself semi-naked in a Burger King ad, writing, “Today’s #TBT is dedicated to @SusanSarandon.”
That’s when sh*t really hit the fan…
Feminism comes to Susan Sarandon’s rescue.
After being called out multiple times by Morgan, an army of women came to Sarandon’s rescue, barraging the Brit with boob photos and tweeting that the talkshow host was both sexist and an ageist. The idea spawned the now trending #CleavageGate hashtag, catapulting loads of balloons all over the web in the name of Sarandon’s defense. Susan Sarandon retweeted about 60 of the cleavage shots herself, making her wall look like the social feed for Playboy, and even Morgan received his fair share of snaps.
The internet just boob slapped Piers Morgan.
“Feminists now sending me photos of their cleavage to ‘punish’ me for criticizing @SusanSarandon,” wrote Morgan in response to the attack. “Curious notion of punishment… I’m under cleavage attack… Seems to be some massive misunderstanding that I am anti-cleavage. I’m only anti-cleavage during In Memoriam tributes to dead people…”
He stood his ground for a little while longer, but Morgan finally tweeted what might be considered a capitulation and apology for the needless attack. “Just for the record, @SusanSarandon, I think your cleavage is magnificent. I’d just keep it hidden for In Memoriam tributes. Love Piers…”
