Or is this just a ploy to distract us from Donald’s disgraces?
The 2016 presidential election has been absolutely nothing like we have ever seen before. While in years past, the dramatic antics of presidential hopefuls were expected, nothing compares to the seemingly endless amounts of scandals, drama, and overall ridiculousness of this year. The RNC and DNC conventions have just ended, and the official nominations for each party are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton respectively.
We are continually hearing the disparagement against the candidates, but it seems like the press is growing tired and moving onto their next victims: their spouses, namely, Melania Trump.
Attacking the candidates spouses is nothing new, but did the New York Post go too far?
Historically, just like the candidate, the spouse of a president hopeful’s record needs to be spotless. The media will do anything and everything to uncover every minor scandal in the candidates lives. Some say this is for total transparency, some say it’s to keep the elections interesting.
This year, it seems like the prerequisite of a clean record has been completely thrown out the window. Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails are the fundamental reason for opposition in conservatives. Donald Trump’s unethical business practices and the overall person that he is are a case against the fear monger.

The spouses of the candidates are no better. Hillary’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, has the whole Monica Lewinsky thing going against him, and Melania? The list continues to grow. Her latest embarrassment was plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s 2008 DNC speech.
The New York post’s most recent cover features a young Melania Trump completely naked under the headline “Melania Trump Like You’ve Never Seen Her Before.” Since it’s publication, the world has exploded with opinions and no two seem to be the same.
