“One well-timed burp on the sun and there goes the world’s electric grids.” The Earth came close to repeating this catastrophe in 2012, but the Earth missed the solar storm by 9 days. It would cause trillions of dollars in damage and years of recovery to fix our electronic (and financial) systems.

user_82650: Off-site backup is a must. I used to do local backups on an external HDD, but then I read the story of someone who had both the laptop and the backup disk fall from the table while they were syncing. Killed both drives instantly.
