I’m in the import/export business…
Importing and exporting has been done between countries for many centuries. One area has goods that another place wants or needs. From spices in India, silk in China, and/or fruit from South America, it’s nothing new. But as you know, many illegal drugs come from far away and secretly imported to the US. Smuggling drugs is a difficult thing to achieve, but the substances do make their way here. Drug pushers have got to really creative to try to trick officials. And other people want to smuggle in some weird things that are just outlandish and simultaneously ridiculous.
Check out some dumb, yet entertaining criminals who were caught smuggling weird things!
A 43-year-old Venezuelan woman was caught smuggling 3.5 pounds of cocaine last Summer. She landed in Madrid, coming from Colombia she appeared nervous which is a tip-off to officers. After a full-body search they found nothing. But she confessed about the drugs being in her breast implants, worth about $2 million. This isn’t an uncommon way to export drugs, putting the patient at great risk physically.
Cans of beans
This is actually pretty clever, as you can get a good seal on a metal can. But what tipped off to the police was that this person was carrying an usually large amount of black beans. Maybe they just like tacos?
